As libraries shift their events online we have fielded a number of questions about using Attend to create virtual events for patrons. We're pleased to say this use case is already fully supported. We've put together an explanation for how to use this functionality and some best practices.
While there are a few options for managing external events, we recommend creating an event type named "Virtual Event" so patrons can search or filter by this criteria. When creating a new event, assign it to this event type and choose the external venue tab instead of selecting a room.
In addition, you can create an URL that allows you to pre-filter by your new event type. For the time being, you can update your site navigation to point your patrons directly to these events. It would look something like this:
Please be sure to have any bulk cancellation requests completed before creating virtual events. A sample event is available for reference here.
How to Create Virtual Events in Attend
- In the Events section, click the New Event button then fill in and select options for your new event
- Select your date and time
- Select the Venue button. Instead of selecting a room, choose "External". Populate the rest of the details from this screen.
